Not able to login into Non-globalzones (NGZ) after Patching.

Yesterday I faced an issue, where in I was unable to login into NGZ’s after kernel patching. Though the zlogin was working perfectly.

Initially I think the cause is ssh key, then I tried to login into the NGZ from the network, it was showing ssh connection refused.

I have checked the ssh services via zlogin. There were many services related to network which were not running including ssh. All services were depending on /system/sysidtool:net service which is in disbale mode. I tried to enable /system/sysidtool:net service but No luck.

Announcement : Exclusive Chat Channels for System Administrators

In Proactive system administration, it is very important to understand the problems that may arise in our environment in future, due to the  present actions, and take necessary proactive measurements  to avoid them beforehand.  The challenge here is,  it is not possible to guess all the problems that could arise in our environment unless we are discussing frequently with our fellow system admin who are already facing similar kind of problems in their environment.

Understanding and discussing each other SA problems , need not give direct immediate solutions but atleast it will give us a comfort feeling , i.e. “we are not alone facing this problem”, when we encounter with similar problem in our environment. That is the key point to avoid panic ( yes panic is key emotion in SA life, which kills our common sense and degrades our problem resolution skills during the critical issues which considered as major by our managers ) during critical issues, and to focus on the problem resolution using all available resources at the moment.

Today I am very happy to facilitate a live communication to all of my fellow sysadmins, to interact with each other to share their knowledge and resources.
